Why would I use a drone for my project?
Over the last few years the use of drones has increased exponentially across all industries. Real Estate has been using them for the “WOW” factor that the amazing views give their properties. Airbnb hosts have been using them for the same reason. Research has shown that properties with aerial views sell, rent, or get booked faster than those that don’t have them.
Construction companies have been using them to assist them with volume/stockpile measurements, help them in the planning stages of their project to stage equipment and materials, progression photos of their project, or investors that want to see what progress is being made.
Utility companies use them for their inspections of cell phone towers, power lines (transmission & distribution), solar panels, wind turbines, or any other of their infrastructure. These inspections may be purely visual or they may be thermal.
Drones are also commonly used for other infrastructure inspections as well. Whether they are inspecting bridges, railroad tracks/ties, or building exteriors, the uses are endless.
Another factor is that using a drone/sUAS/UAV is faster, cheaper, and safer than traditional methods. Your projects can be completed in a fraction of the time (and a fraction of the cost) and in many cases, the risk of injury is not present. This gives you more time to concentrate on other things.
Whether you are looking for keepsakes, real estate, progression photos of a project, orthomosaics, photogrammetry, volume measurements, or visual inspections, drones/sUAS’s/sUAV’s are the way to go. Your imagination is the limit.
When hiring a drone pilot, it should be noted that the FAA requires that all commercial drone/sUAS/sUAV operations be conducted by a certified Part 107 Remote Pilot or they are subject to substantial fines (for both parties).
